      \nAre You A Safe Driver?<\/b>\n

      \nWell, of course you are, or at least, you definitely do your best. After all, it\u2019s not just you in the vehicle or on the road. No matter how great of a driver you are, it\u2019s always a good idea to review best practices from time to time--after all, it\u2019s up to each of us to do our best to keep ourselves and others safe. \n\t

      \nHere\u2019s a great checklist:\n\t

      \nBuckle up!<\/b> Before you even put the key in the ignition, put your seatbelt on. Not only will it protect you more in the event of an accident, in some cities and states, you can be fined for not wearing it.\n\t

      \nKnow your way.<\/b> If you plan your route ahead of time, you won\u2019t have to attempt to figure out where you\u2019re going at the same time you\u2019re operating a motorized vehicle.\n\t

      \nBe Aware.<\/b> Stay alert and pay attention, not just to your actions, but also those of other drivers around you while you\u2019re driving.\n\t

      \nBe sober.<\/b> Never drive under the influence, whether it be alcohol, drugs, or even certain medications can affect your perceptions and reactions times. \n\t

      \nDon\u2019t guess.<\/b> Sometimes we think we know what the other driver should do, or assume that we know what their next move will be--but we don\u2019t. \n\t

      \nBe weather wise.<\/b> When you\u2019ve got less than ideal conditions, such as fog, or snow, or rain, be extra cautious and be sure to follow your local guidelines for driving in such conditions.\n\t

      \nThe rules of the road.<\/b> In addition to all speed limits, obey stop signs and traffic lights, as well as speed limits. Remember that yellow lights notify you to slow down and prepare to stop (they never mean go very fast!).\n\t

      \nStops signs.<\/b> They mean it. Sometimes, others don\u2019t. But you should, even if you don\u2019t think other cars are around--it\u2019s the one time you don\u2019t expect it that is when something potentially awful can happen.\n\t

      \nBe a good communicator.<\/b> Use your signals every time you\u2019re supposed to--before lane changing or turning.\n\t

      \nBut still, DON\u2019T TEXT AND DRIVE!<\/b> It\u2019s that simple--just don\u2019t.\n\t

      \nKeep focused.<\/b> It\u2019s not just texting--talking via cell phone, eating, changing music sources, even discussion with other passengers can be distracting, so keep that to a minimum.\n\t

      \nCar Safety.<\/b> Make sure you\u2019ve got plenty of gas in your tank, your tires are in good condition, and all the lights and wipers are working properly.\n\t

      \nMost importantly, be patient.<\/b> Don\u2019t rush to get where you\u2019re going. After all, if you\u2019re involved in an accident, it\u2019ll take you even longer.\n\t

      \nWhen your car is safe,<\/b> you know where you\u2019re going and how to get there,<\/b> and you and your passengers are focused on the journey<\/b>, all that\u2019s left is to enjoy the drive!\n\n
